The quick and dirty instructions on how to make a zig-zag pattern cutting board.
Click on the pictures to see a full size image.
Choose a couple different types of hardwood. The more colors the better. Below is cherry, maple and walnut. Rip strips of wood any width so the total with is about 12”. This is the width that will fit through my planer. The beauty of this is that none of the widths have to be the same. The board shown below is made of scrape wood. If you only have shor...

I have not really been woodworking all that long. I have actually owned a sawmill longer than I have been making any finished wood projects, long story. I have debated making a proper bench for some time. My old/first bench was a row of kitchen cabinets I took out on a remodel I did as a contractor with a solid plank on top. Everyone has different needs, I tried to design mine to fit the work I do. If I need to I can easily make modifications, as is I am calling it “done for now”....

You may not know it, but my little wife, (”Bairbre”), that’s Irish for Barbara. She has a wee bit of Irish in her blood.
But I think her heart is 100% Irish. You all must have seen the, Click here> Irish Claddagh, I carved for her.
Now I’ve decided to make her a Shamrock shaped box, for this years St. Patrick’s day.
The finished dimensions are: 7 1/2” High x 7” Wide x 4” Deep.

May 14, 2008 ~ Happy Birthday Samantha
This is one of my favorite days of the year; the day my grandaughter Samantha was born. It seems like yesterday but it was really 10 years ago. Of course the other favorite day is Emily’s B-day and she is 3. So I digress but thought today would be a good time to finally put together this sequence on these Cherry End Tables.
Our Daughter wanted me to make her two end tables out of Cherry and liked the design of two that I made from oak...

alright so now everything except for the fence is put together and it is looking awesome.
i added the apron and plugged all my holes with birch plugs just for the looks and i put on a coat of poly just to make the birch plugs turn brown because they are end grain so it looks cool, no other reason. i am planning on making the fence and also some form of dust collection and some storage for router bits and a couple other things. maybe even put some French cleats there. so here is a video...

Well i got a good amount done today but not as much as i would have hoped. first i cut the slots for the t-tracks that will secure the fence. i ordered it and i don’t have it yet so i figured that i would cut the slots now so i can attach the router table to the saw and when i get the t-tracks just pop them in.
now that everything having to do with the torsion box is completed (including the router being mounted, sorry no pictures) i will turn my attention to the legs. i just too...

Hey Everybody,
In this episode of the Teen Age Woodworker I finish up my printer table. Everything but the finish that is as the title states. I was planning on this being the last episode but as i wanted to show the finish i decided to extend it into a four part series. In this episode specifically though I go over installing drawer slides, making a simple tongue and groove door, and mortising for hinges by hand. Well I hope that everyone enjoys this episode of the Teen Age Woodworker.

April 1, 2008
No this isn’t an April fool joke.
I thought since the price of everything is getting so high, you’d enjoy seeing these clamps. I worked in a boat shop one summer and the standing joke was ”let’s sell all of these clamps and buy one of them thar plactic boats”.
We had buckets full of clamps. You need lots when planking. These are what we called “Lap” clamps. We used them when putting planks on a lap strake boat. They won’t...
