Woodworking Magazine - A Review

Until last week, I had never read Woodworking Magazine. It first hit the press when I was already in Malaysia, and I never ran across it during my time in the States in 2006-7. But when my Shortcut on cutting curves without a bandsaw got accepted for the Spring 2009 issue, I got a free one-year subscription. I got my first issue – along with Winter 2008 – the other day. Wow. I had read woodworking magazines before, but as a neanderthal was always put off by the powertoolc...

Tom Lie-Nielsen, Chris Schwarz, John Economaki at Marc Adams

I’m about to head out the door for a dinner tonight with the three fellows mentioned above and a class with Chris and Tom on Saturday and Sunday at the Marc Adams School of Woodworking. The talk/dinner tonight is about the tool making process and then the class is about using and tuning up hand planes. I will post about them both when I get back. Maybe I will see one of you there?!

My copy of the Moxon has arrived a couple of hours ago. Does that make me a Mechanick? I haven’t got the time but to peruse it a little and it really looks fantastic. Why they don’t make books like this anymore? I’m tired of cheap paperbacks. I love the feel of the good ole hardcover, fabric bounded, gold embossed books. Specially when they sport the signature of ”The Schwarz” on page 3. :o) It’ll cost you the same as two disgusting italian-named pse...
