On Way Back Wednesday, I’m not going too far. In my span here it is. It is our Spanish Rose Four Poster. I built my first one about 10 years ago. At one time it was one of our biggest sellers. It was really our first production standard bed. Production as in I standardized the cut list and design to make it easier, quicker to build, and cheaper for the customer.

When coming up with a design for the boats headboard for the first time I wanted more like a bookcase headboard. Something more then just a flat headboard. What I did was take a simple bookcase headboard, one like I’d use on a captain’s bed, and tilt it back a little. To give it more of a nautical look, I cut portholes across the top and then some larger ones in the sides.

A break from the normal murphy bed and switching gears to a twin four poster bed. I’m posting out of order, but here is the video of the post glue up.
Video streaming by UstreamThe post will be 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” with a small chamfer on the edges to make an octagon look. I’m going to stop the chamfer on the inside where the post attach. This will allow my bracket room to mount.

What’s happening in the shop for August 12, 2010. Final Assembly on Komusi and Stevens beds and should complete Connell and Schneider’s beds and continue to work on Keeley. I am short one guy, so I’m having to do some of the smaller more repetitive task. I usually don’t spray the finishes, but yesterday I did.

What’s happening in the shop for February 18, 2010 . Today we’ll putting the final touches on Barrett’s loft and a dawer section. We should apply the finish on a chalkboard murphy bed. Betz bed should be started today.
