Dresser / Chainging Station #3: Progress!

Have been busy since the last entry, wedding, getting new windows ordered, Bradley class, phew! Made some progress on the dresser last night. Most of the more time consuming cuts were done. I needed to cut 1/2” plywood to use for the floors in the drawer holes. I wanted to use plywood so I could place a runner in the middle of the shelf for the drawer to slide on. I’ll also put some sliders on the ends of the drawers as well. The sliders will be made from some scrap white oak. ...

Changing Table #2: Assembly Day

At the end of my last post, I had one side of the changing table glued up, with lots of indivudual pieces waiting to be assembled. After putting the other side together to match the one from my previous post, I attached two legs (2 1/4×2 1/4) to each side. Then I assembled the back, both shelves, and sanded until my fingers were completely smooth! Changing Table #1: Christmas Break Progress

This first project I’ll be blogging about on this site is a changing table I’m making in expectation of our first child due on March 1. The design is inspired from the crib in the Wood magazine a few years back. (Thanks to all you who posted pictures with your Wood magazine cribs!) Hopefully I’ll be able to also make the crib before the baby arrives. I bought enough cherry for both projects, as well as quite a bit extra for an end table and maybe a shelf unit for the bab...

About 9 months ago, my wife and I conceived a child. She had encouraged me to make something for the baby and to try to push myself. I consider myself a beginner woodworker and am trying to learn from my mistakes. I researched cribs, cradles, changing tables, and dressers. We have a small home and are some what limited in space and we were offered a crib from my sister, which she had stored in her basement.
