Four years ago I made a ‘new fangled bench’ as seen in Fine Woodworking. Since then my so called woodworking journey has been good and I think I’ve come a long way and done a lot of stuff. I was holding off on the last (lower and larger) drawers due to lack of material which in essence was a good thing as It made me rethink those drawer dimensions and ended up with what I believe is a better build, but more about that later. What was the issue? The lower 3 drawers are the largest/tallest at 6”, 5”, and 5”, but I only had enough materials for 3 ~2.5” tall drawers + some additional material but not enough to glue material together to give me 6”...

So I am building a box frame using box-joints. I have my Incra 1000SE miter gauge setup with the stop block to cut the side pieces to length, and I’m all done with that. Time to cut the box joints. So I swap the blade on the table saw with my new (only used once before) Dado blade, I attach my homemade high fence for making box joints onto the Incra 1000 fence, and I’m ready to start cutting.
