The other day I posted a couple of projects where I used some reddish-white wood, that we around here call “Cedar.” I don’t know what the species name is, some say Western Red, some Say Eastern Red, so I don’t know for sure.

Went for a walk with my wife last night. I have been eyeing this large dumpster behind an old house in our neighborhood for the last few days. I’m not sure whether they’re preparing the house for demolition, remodeling or moving, but the dumpster was full.
I took a closer peek in the dumpster last night and went back with the van after we got home. Click the thumbnail pic for a larger view.

My new DowelMax arrived last week (see Mot's discussions re: the tool) but I haven’t had time or I haven’t made the time to try it out – until today.
Why haven’t I tried it yet? Well I think I have to blame Tom’s daughter for this one—boy, if she can do it and I mess it up… oh my self-esteem will suffer!! haha

The whole reason I joined Lumberjocks was because I wanted to get some information about the Thorsen Table Challenge. After spending countless hours here I decided I better at least attempt a table.
SWMBO said that I could only build a table if the wood choice matched the bedroom furniture (The Wife’s Dresser). So sorry Obi, but it is going to be made out of pine. I decided to add some Cedar for a contrasting wood
