I had to end the suffering of a very old friend this week, my Australia Shephard, Melbie. From puppyhood through 13 years, he was a constant companion in my shop. Few things excited him more than my shop keys. No just wasn’t an answer. We were going make the trek to shop together. Nothing scared him. I made yet another trip to my local lumberyard (30km, 19miles), and decided I needed some more variety in my wood selection at home. I really wanted to find some spalted maple (I have fallen in love with the look of the stuff), but they did not have any (only poor samples of spalted ash).
