Well we were able to put about 6 more hours into the bench project this weekend. The display cabinets have been consuming our free time, but I’ve decided to stop working on it at 5 and work from 5 to 8 on the bench. We still need to sand it all, screw it all together and shape the arm rests. It’s just sitting there and the mortises are what’s holding it together. I put the seat slats down onto it so I could test the comfort. I need to shape the front slat and radious al...

If you are just surfing through the internet about Walking Canes and found this posting, and you want to see some actual canes I’ve carved, click on the Widget Picture of the cane here. That project has more than 40 other links to other unique carved walking canes I’ve built.
This blog entry is for showing a new concept sketch of a carved walking cane design that I am working on so that the prospective customer can view the concept drawings and provide his input, or approval.

Another short Blog entry to post a concept sketch of a President Barak Obama Walking Cane. This cane design has been inspired by several historical examples of Election and Political Figure “Bust Top” collector walking canes.
I have another design I’m working on the concept sketch for with an “Abraham Lincoln Bust Top” walking cane, and he’s deceased, and so that can not be determined as “politics”, just art. Ha.
thanks for looking,Mark ...

Realizing that the story and photos of this walking cane project are decidedly Christian in content, if you are offended by such things, you should read another Blog. This project is a cane that I was commissioned to build, which tells the story of the Old Testament, the New Testament, and will be used to talk about the customer’s faith as he uses the symbols to tell the story. I hope that if you are offended by the content, that you will at least enjoy the woodworking process that is...

This very large, commissioned credenza was designed as an entertainment center to sit below a big, wall mounted, plasma TV. It is 76” wide 24-1/2” deep, and 34” tall. The cabinet and base are all solid walnut and the doors are bookmatched walnut burl veneers both inside and out.
But first I want to thank everyone who visited and responded to my last blog;
A glass top table with opposing arches
And as always, I welcome your comments AND critiques on this latest project.

My dad, Ralph Kent, Disney’s keeper of the mouse, passed last year. He was an artist, a designer of uncountable products, a lover of games, a terrible punster, and a collector of mammoth proportion.
His chess set collection alone took up an entire spare bedroom. I mean stacked floor to ceiling with squeezeways to access them. He only could display maybe twenty or thirty at a time. They, along with his collections of other games (some dating to the fifteenth century), Disney memorabil...
