01-07-2010 10:48 AM by degoose | 20 comments »

For the last few days at the end of last year ….LOL…I was very busy… I was designing a recessed base for my Lazy Larrys..I have just taken the time to post this….To start I have cut a circle of 5/8” plywood to mount the bearing.. this is roughly 300 mm or 12” in diameter as seen to the left in the first pic. This is accomplished by using the router to drill a hole in the centre.. the same size as the pin in the table. The hole is dropped over the pin and th...

02-12-2012 12:15 AM by Pete | 3 comments »

So I finally got around to finishing my wood rack thing’m’jigger and tried to organise some of the wood I’ve been given/collected over the last few months. Turns out I have a lot of things to play with! In this shot you can see the cedar that my dad picked up at an auction. White and red, very fancy! On the left is a couple interesting pieces I bought on ebay; coachwood, tulip oak and NT red ebony plus a nice piece of purple heart that Larry bestowed upon me! Campho...

camphor tray thing #1: Camphor Laurel tray thing

12-10-2011 04:16 PM by Pete | 2 comments »

A while ago I picked up a Carbatec carving miner, then of course promptly got buried under a bunch of other projects and forgot all about it. I’ve just started working at a new place and they do a secret santa gift exchange for christmas. Since I detest shopping I was staring at my wood shelf and wondering what I could make with my current limited setup. Well, turns out I had a chunk of camphor laurel sitting there. When using the angle grinder this morning to cut some steel I had...

Torque Workcentre at work.. #23: Making a Template.

03-23-2010 11:59 AM by degoose | 9 comments »

Very simple but care must be taken…Here is how to make a template…Next up will be using the template to make a cheese board... in Camphor Laurel of course..I will also be making a templat...
