The Roof on our Apartment building sustained a little damage this past Winter. After the snow melted, I found the remains of two Slate shingles, out of the hundreds that are up there… The one in the front didn’t survive the fall, but the one in the back put me of a mind to make something, if I can only square it up a little…Back in my landscaping days, in the late “70’s, we cut tons of Granite for Walkways and Stairs. It’s a lot of work, but relatively e...

Greetings to all once again; I am attaching photos of the clamp for my new Biesmeyer style fence that is under construction. It came out fairly well. The circular pads are adjustable by carriage bolts threaded in to t-nuts to correct any undesired angularity. The ¾” dowel is a plunger that the cam pushes to lock the fence in place. The two piece pad that the dowel pushes will have an elastomer sandwiched between the pieces to provide a spring action so the cam can over clamp it...
You’ll have to forgive me for doing a little self-promotion here folks. But I think you are going to like this. Instead, we wanted the app to be incredibly useful, while still having some Wood Whispe...

This may be old news to most of you, but I purchased a woodworking calculator that is amazing, at least to me. I am one of those mathmatically challenged woodworkers, and this calculator does everything but build the project. I calculates board feet, meters from feet & inches, how much paint to buy, how many rolls of wallpaper you need, how many boards and posts you need for a fence, etc., etc. Now I will have no more excuses for that cut that is too short! I have used it already to ...

How much does wood move What about quartersawn lumber Does flat sawn lumber move more than Quarter Sawn The US Government has created a Wood Handbook that has lots of tables but how does that become useful? I took the tables and created an Excel Spreadsheet to calculate the wood movement. But, I came across a wood Movement Calculator that you can download and run on your computer. This pro...
