Table Saw Mobile Workstation #1: I love it when a plan comes together...

587 days ago by Greg Wurst | 16 comments »

Awhile back Wood Magazine had an article on building a mobile outfeed table that would fit over your table saw. Since I need all the space in my garage I can get, I went ahead and built one that would fit over my table saw to give me some much needed work space and a handy outfeed table. I thought this was pretty spiffy and a great use of space. As I always do I look at the latest project posts on Lumberjocks looking for inspiration for my next project. Whilst browsing I came ac...

756 days ago by Brad_Nailor | 12 comments »

Hello everyone! Since I discovered Sketchup several years ago (I have been Skecthing since release 3..pre Google) I have spent a great deal of time watching tutorials and prowling through the forums trying to learn as much about this great software as I can! Since I have been a member here I have seen some great blogs by other members about Sketchup and how to use it, so I thought I would throw my hat in the ring! I see allot of people saying I wish I could use Sketchup better, or I gotta lea...

Building a MAME Arcade Cabinet

487 days ago by Greg Wurst | 18 comments »

MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) allows you to play old arcade games on your PC. While playing them with a keyboard and mouse is OK, to really get the experience you need an arcade cabinet. I could spend some time on just the PC setup, but I’m going to just concentrate on the cabinet construction here. I built this back in 2003 over the course of a week. If you’re interested in more info on MAME and where to get needed hardware you can check the project page here: ...

A Krenov Inspired Cabinet on Stand in Six Days (pix)

512 days ago by John Fry | 18 comments »

A veneered curly koa, James Krenov style cabinet on a sculpted, curved leg, stand. The doors are bookmatched with a strip of sapwood down the middle. The turned Gaboon ebony handles accent the koa’s colors. This was a joint project with expert woodworker and friend, Jack Hutchison from Houston TX. and it was built in six days. But first I want to thank everyone who visited and responded to my last blog; A very large walnut and walnut burl credenza I’ve admired Jack’...

My First Router Table

576 days ago by DaveConry | 14 comments »

This is the router table that I have been working on. It has been an interesting experience in that this is my first attempt at building a cabinet and drawers. The cabinet itself is made out of 3/4” cabinet grade plywood. The end panels and back are aligned using #20 biscuits, and secured with glue and screws, while the center panels are set in dadoed grooves. The face frame was constructed using pocket screws and aligned to the cabinet with buisquits. The face frame is made from...

Tool cabinet #8: All done and loaded

622 days ago by CutNRun | 21 comments »

Just wanted to follow-up and finish this project/blog. The top cabinet is now finished and loaded with tools. I do actually have a drawer or two available for more “stuff”. I’m pleased with how the cabinet turned out. My wife thinks it is too nice for the garage/shop, but I know better.

Shop Organization #9: Workbench Cabinet (Part 2)

643 days ago by gizmodyne | 8 comments »

Drawer Parts Galore I started by squaring some panels to the width of the drawers. To save time I rabbeted the entire panel. Later I would rip them to create the sized drawer fronts. Testing the drawer front fit. You can see the drawer pieces in each cubby awaiting their fronts. The backs of the drawers are held by dadoes 1/2” in from the back of the drawer. I got to spend some quality time with the new crosscut sled.If you squint you can see that there is another 1/2”...

A Small Project for Rita (2 years in the making)

65 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 18 comments »

Yeah, that’s right – 2 years… I plan on finishing this little cabinet up this weekend and I will post more details. The cabinet is made of black walnut and the drawers are made of curly ambrosia maple. This is a great combination. I started this project 2 years ago and I am finally going to cross it off the “unfinished projects” list. Today I got all the little drawers fitted and tomorrow I will cut the corners to add the contrasting keys. Then it wi...

project: under [garage] door shelving cabinet #5: and now, some doors

170 days ago by Gary Fixler | 5 comments »

When we last left off, I was about to glue up the first cabinet door. Here it is clamped and drying: Here’s a detail (the wet marks at the left are just from wiping out glue – they dried up and disappeared): And because time-lapse videos are so fun, here’s the glue-up of the second door: And now the finished doors. Well… finished gluing together. Now there’s still sanding and coats of whatever I decide to use. I’ve been thinking of de...

#1 Cabinet Components mics_54

370 days ago by DaveR | 9 comments »

mics54 wrote:”I am really going to have to change the way I constructed/manipulated component models in order to use the cut list. Before, in v6 I would import a basic wall cabinet. explode it, stretch it to width desired, make it a group and place it in the model. Now once it is exploded I would have to recreate the cabinet into seperate components in oder for the cutlist application to recognise the parts. Maybe I don’t know the proper methods of resizing models …or am I misunderstand...
