Just wanted to follow-up and finish this project/blog. The top cabinet is now finished and loaded with tools. I do actually have a drawer or two available for more “stuff”. I’m pleased with how the cabinet turned out. My wife thinks it is too nice for the garage/shop, but I know better.

Before I install the dishwasher panel I need to fit a piece of trim to cover the mortar bed. So back to the wood pile.
I need 11 feet of trim so I pulled a 12 footer from my stash and began the resaw process.
First: Metal detector boogie and pull nails. (About 50 this time)
Getting ready to resaw. Tiny Shop!
Resawing:
My outfeed support.
Planer cleanup. Unfortunately a knot blew out, so I am going to have to scarf two pieces.
Trim stock.
Ran out of steam. It is c...

Yeah, that’s right – 2 years…
I plan on finishing this little cabinet up this weekend and I will post more details. The cabinet is made of black walnut and the drawers are made of curly ambrosia maple. This is a great combination.
I started this project 2 years ago and I am finally going to cross it off the “unfinished projects” list.
Today I got all the little drawers fitted and tomorrow I will cut the corners to add the contrasting keys. Then it wi...

MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) allows you to play old arcade games on your PC. While playing them with a keyboard and mouse is OK, to really get the experience you need an arcade cabinet. I could spend some time on just the PC setup, but I’m going to just concentrate on the cabinet construction here. I built this back in 2003 over the course of a week.
If you’re interested in more info on MAME and where to get needed hardware you can check the project page here:

A veneered curly koa, James Krenov style cabinet on a sculpted, curved leg, stand. The doors are bookmatched with a strip of sapwood down the middle. The turned Gaboon ebony handles accent the koa’s colors.
This was a joint project with expert woodworker and friend, Jack Hutchison from Houston TX. and it was built in six days.
But first I want to thank everyone who visited and responded to my last blog;
A very large walnut and walnut burl credenza
I’ve admired Jack’...

For all of you cabinet builders on this site, my hat is off to you! I never fully realized the work that is involved in making a cabinet and how even the smallest mistakes can compound so very quickly…
Right before Christmas I posted this blog asking for input on plans for a tool cabinet. Well, I took all the advice I received and have been furiously building over the holidays.
Here is where I stand—I have completed the actual “cabinet” portion of the project. ...

I started my next project based on an idea I got from a gorgeous piece of maple that I had laying around which I found when I cleaned out my shop recently. The board was an impulse buy several months ago. I didn’t have a use in mind for it when I bought it. It was 6’ long, almost 10” wide and a little over 1/2” thick.
This is the design I came up with for a Concave Chest of Drawers:
Some of the Features will change as I start building, especially on the struc...

Awhile back Wood Magazine had an article on building a mobile outfeed table that would fit over your table saw. Since I need all the space in my garage I can get, I went ahead and built one that would fit over my table saw to give me some much needed work space and a handy outfeed table.
I thought this was pretty spiffy and a great use of space. As I always do I look at the latest project posts on Lumberjocks looking for inspiration for my next project. Whilst browsing I came ac...

This week we finished our new garden shed…and the consequence from that is that I will get a chance to completely re-do my shop…it will be a work in progress…but I am really looking forward to turning out a lot more shop projects…and most of all having the room to put things in a proper order…
When we got word that we were going to make the shed (see my story on my shed) I decided I would stop all wood working until i could re-organize the shop…right now...

This is the router table that I have been working on. It has been an interesting experience in that this is my first attempt at building a cabinet and drawers.
The cabinet itself is made out of 3/4” cabinet grade plywood. The end panels and back are aligned using #20 biscuits, and secured with glue and screws, while the center panels are set in dadoed grooves. The face frame was constructed using pocket screws and aligned to the cabinet with buisquits. The face frame is made from...
