Building a Tablesaw Base Part 2

Well I finally finished the Tablesaw Base, trying to film during rain storms is almost impossible with the ambient noise from the rain hitting the metal roof.. but I waited it out, and am very happy with the outcome.. Here is a look at the final steps of building this base

Using up some scraps here…..just made the basic boards today. Tomorrow I hope to work on the corners and edge treatments and juice grooves and then get them soaked with Mineral Oil : ) Thanks for looking ! Ooops ,sorry …... Where to add photos here ?

In the wood shop today #19: Pouring and polishing an epoxy bar top counter

I’ve been working on a custom home bar built from Bubinga and Walnut using solid and veneered wood. The counters will be protected from water using System Three Mirrorcoat a 2 part 2:1 epoxy finish that self levels and cures crystal clear. I had to give the counter a light sand and through 400 to 4000 then used a 3 step polishing process to bring the counter back to a beautiful gloss shine.

2 Simple Shop Jigs - Multi Function Tapering / Sandpaper Sheet Quartering

Hey everyone, Just wanted to share a couple of shop Jigs with you. One is a quick and simple jig for quartering your sheets of sandpaper to use in your palm sanders or sanding blocks. The second jig is a multi function tapering Jig that lets you do 4 sided tapers as well as straight edging rough sawn boards and cutting angles also.. Veneered Sofa Table #7: More fun with finishing

I appreciate the input from a number of folks about potential finishing methods. I tried a few and settled on a final choice. I started out trying to find a finish that would retain the natural look of the bubinga without significantly changing the color. Unfortunately I failed. I used a scraper to level my last two test boards and then sanded the surface with 320 followed by 400 grit. Tried one side with aerosol spray lacquer – 3 coats and one side with pure tung ...
