This is a time lapse video created using an I-phone on a tripod. I’m covering a recently finished bar top which is solid 2 5/8’ think live edge Bubinga in Three Systems MirrorCoat. This is a 2:1 epoxy that self levels and is completely clear, your able to remove bubbles with a blow torch one down side is a 3 day cure time 90%, 100% in 7 days Everything worked out well, this is still a project in progress so I will have more pictures and videos about this bar once completed ...

The Maloof Library Series #12: Just a shoe bench

06-15-2012 11:38 AM by ScottMorrison | 6 comments »

Hi everyone, Here’s a Maloof Inspired Shoe Bench built a while back, but the templates and instruction booklet are now available. This one was built from Bubinga, which made it a bit heavier than normal, but will probably outlast my grandkids. Quite a fun little project, especially my favorite part….the handles. Enjoy!

Veneered Sofa Table #1: Getting prepared, wrecking tools

10-25-2011 07:58 PM by SPHinTampa | 3 comments »

While I am waiting for the finish to cure on my tray project, I started my next adventure. I am building a sofa table to match, approximately, the end tables that I made last year ( I started by sketching out a design on paper with some basic measurements. Usually I get a little more detailed and do a scale drawing (I use MS powerpoint). Since I plan to match the end tables, I need a little less design detail and paper will do. Begin wit...

Review of Tropical Exotic Hardwoods of Latin America

03-12-2012 02:08 AM by jusfine | 6 comments »

As we were taking in some rays in the Palm Springs area last month, I had the urge to see some lumber or tools, and realized it was not a long drive to Carlsbad California to the Tropical Exotic Hardwoods supplier. Their website is here It was relatively easy to find with GPS, and the warehouse was large and well lit. There were a few customers while we were there (about an hour), but it was not really busy – it was a week day around lunch time. They had ...

Jewelry Cabinet #4: Final pieces, assembly and finish.

04-13-2012 04:06 AM by Devin | 4 comments »

Well, about 330 days ago I wrote something about being finished this piece in another 4 weeks. That didn’t happen, but in my defence I did get other pieces done in that time, I just kept getting pulled away from this jewelry cabinet. The work left on this piece was not big, but very finicky and detailed, which is likely why I kept finding it hard to get traction. I made the three drawers for the bottom section before moving onto the more intricate boxes that sit on the cabinet. ...

dust stuff #8: check this one out

04-23-2012 07:33 PM by JoeyG | 17 comments »

As I sit here and wait for my walnut burl to arrive from UPS. ( My first internet order of lumber, I am a bit nervous.) I thought I would share a quick picture of my new box. I normally don’t share my projects when they are incomplete unless I am doing a blog or need a little advice on how to finish up a design. This time it is simply because I am so excited about it. This is my largest box to date. There is ruler in the picture to show scale. It is sized using the golden rectan...

Building a Tablesaw Base Part 1

04-11-2013 12:15 AM by WoodJediNTraining | 13 comments »

Recently I had a need to build a new table saw base for my saw. Rather than just building a simple replacement base, I opted to build one with lots of storage potential. This new base measures 6 feet long by 2 feet wide, which gave me good reason to move over to the new shop building. I haven’t yet finished the new shop set up ( haven’t even started) but this build is a great start giving me lots of options for storage potential… This build is a 2 part project. So be sure to...
