If you prefer not to read the video is herehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwLDBA1nQIo So we are now at the most annoying part of this entire restoration and that’s the bridge plate. Here’s a picture so you can get an idea of what and where the bridge plate is. It’s the small overlaid piece of wood A guitar’s bridge plate does quite a few very important jobs for the guitar. To make it simple, the pull of the strings on the top of the guitar is quite intens...

Diy rip tenon saw

04-06-2017 10:55 PM by Daniel Solowiej | 8 comments »

Exclusively with hand tools, I made this rip tenon saw, using the blade of a cheap back saw, but that had a good steel. If you can, make one, you will enjoy it like me!. I use it with a band saw blade cutout. You can see the two videos I did about it :) Cutting the steel with the proper sciss...

Whittlin' #1: Learning about whittlin' from the BSA

03-21-2017 10:24 PM by Questtut | 0 comments »

This past weekend, i was overjoyed to be able to attend the BSA’S University of Scouting, in NY. It was a great course on how to teach the skill to scouts, safety, and general information on how to perform as an instructor. I very much enjoyed taking the class, as I have never tried my hand...

Honey locust bench. #2: Slow progress is still progress nonetheless.

03-15-2017 07:52 PM by mchapman87 | 3 comments »

Quick update from my honey locust bench build. I have been trying to juggle this in with a myriad of other projects that seem to pop up daily. My daughters birthday is tomorrow and I had the pleasure ( heavy sarcasm) of putting together this monstrosity of a swing set. I pray that one day my daughter will have kids and have to suffer the same fate as I haha. Two whole weekends of battling this behemoth and it’s finally complete. Now I can focus on some of my stuff, hopefully. I ...

In this video I restore a Belknap bluegrass block plane. I believe that it belonged to my great, great grandfather (my grandfather’s grandfather. I believe that it was made in the 50’s. so not really that old by hand plane standards, but I had a blast restoring it and learned some good skills. https://youtu.be/GneTY8fCDRs
