Ok folks…We all know that Lie-nielsen makes awesome planes and chisels. And I’m in the market for a #7 bench plane. I’m all for quality but… $425 Is it worth it? What do you have on your shelf? Do you use it often? Much appreciated for all your input. Kevin
This is the first real HD video I have put out. This video is a much higher quality than any other video I have put out. In this episode I build maple pencil holders. I started out with making the bases which have a round over profile on each side. Then I used my tablesaw to re saw a piece of 3/4 maple to use for the box that sits on the base.
Hey Guys & Gals! A quick video showing building a picture frame for mothers day. Really just an excuse to get out into the workshop. Sorry if you have alrady seen this ( I have already posted this as a project when I decided I wanted to blog this) ENJOY!
Its been a while since I’ve posted anything project-related. My time has been consumed with work-work and not wood work. So my wife has this table which she moved into the house when we got married. I can’t stand the thing and it is constantly being bumped, knocked over, and hit into the wall. Its ugly, veneered, and flimsy so I’ve tried everything short of burning it to get it out of there. Finally my wife told me to make something to replace it or get lost. My...
Well, I’m back from the big box store – and have the screws I need to finish the table. I also picked up my MDF for the top and the bottom shelf. I’m using 3/4” MDF as I will be supporting a heavy planer (I don’t have it yet, but I am going to get a Dewalt 735). I scraped off the excess glue off the sides of the leg assemblies, then ran each side on my jointer with two passes on each side. This put me back to 3” x 3” legs (and my glue line was ...
NOTE: I have just edited this blog to make some corrections in the original text! I have begun building my last (?) Easy Shop Table. Based on a similar design used in my Assembly Table from Wood Magazine (March 2010). Once again, this table (like my others) is built from standard grade construction lumber, redimensioned for the project (from the big box store). So far, I’ve purchased 2 2×10”s x 10’ for the frame of the project. The lumber cost for the frame assem...
Since I built my sawmill a year or so ago, I’ve had one major problem. Getting logs here to mill.I tried using my log arch but, with a 24” diameter log on it, there is no fun at all in pulling it on the highway with a big log, “just a swingin” behind you, held by a couple of straps, on a trailer with no springs. I’ve tried pulling them on the trailer and then pulling them off, but that way tearing up my trailer. My trailer is a 20 footer, abou...
