Yo whats up everybody I have said for about the last 3 weeks that I am working on a big project. I am building a book case for the saw dust chronicles 60 day build challenge. Now you have to donate your project to charity or help the enviromant. I am building a book case out of oak. I am using a total of about 45 board ft. It is going to FDNY Ladder 120 and Engine 231 in Brownsville, Brooklyn. My cousin was working on ladder 20 on 9/11 and died thats why I have the text box on my website about...
Hello all. I am in need. A need to fill the void. The void is an empty spot. The empty spot in an area of the shop I haven’t seen in years. There actually is a floor under all that “junk” as the bride would say. (I say golden treasures.) But, what I need now is spiritual help and a set of free plans for a drift boat or dory. I know I can build one, just need the plans. Have looked and downloaded several but cant find ones concerning a Montana style. Those guys craft some s...
A couple of days ago I decided it was time to build a rack to organize my nuts, bolts, screws, washers and other fasteners. I don’t know how I got so many but man, they are everywhere. As I sort thru them I am listing them and anything else I either don’t need, use or have more than one of on ebay. So far I’ve listed over 75 items I think and still have more to go. A couple of items are either rare or expensive like a Starrett calibrated master square set (http://cgi.ebay.co...

Can I put pics in the blog? I’d like to share my project with you guys, but it would be better if you can see it. Let me know please. We were given an overflowing truckload of scrap hardwood a fellow woodworker who was moving to south america. A lot of it was t and g floor cut offs and most of the ironwood planks were stained half way down the length and most all of it was stock rejected due to imperfections. So I thought it was a great opportunity to hone my joinery skills and do someth...
In this episode I build a weight organizer for all of the free weights. It only took about 2 hours to build which is not a lot of time. I changed my design 2 times and Im glad I did because my original design would not have worked. I use 2 2×4s and 2 12 in 2×4s for the base.
In this video trim the edges for the 1×1s and I sand the top part I know that this is a short episode but I wanted to show this content and it would be too long of a video for youtube if I made it 1 episode
Hello again all, After thinking about and looking at the suggestions provided, I decided to take a piece of one suggestion and run with it. I am going to take this 8’ board and turn it into a couch table—kinda. Ulimately this will end up being four separate tables linked together by puzzle piece cutouts. If you want one table about 24 inches square, you only use one part of the table. If you need a longer table (maybe for serving at a party) you can piece together up to all fou...
Updated 1/16/12 I spent a lot of time developing a way to let the lid swing down into the box, yet still maintaining a fairly tight reveal on all four sidesThe difficulty is the lip itself. It doesnt allow the back of the lid to drop into the box, so thats where we need to cut it away a little deeper at the back. I call these pockets. The other difficulty is in getting the hinge placement spot on or it wont open at all or not far enough to stay open. Here is how its done: Use the same pa...
