04-03-2009 01:15 AM by Jamie | 6 comments »

Well, It’s been a long time since I have posted anything on here, and I figured that since I have already started a new project that isn’t complete yet, this would be the perfect time. For the past couple of years, I have been wanting to build a router table ala Norm. Well, my birthday was last friday (March 27) and my wife was asking me what I wanted. Well, long story short, I started out with a couple sheets of 3/4” oak plywood, and a sheet of MDF. This past weekend...

Flip Table #1: Phase 1 - The Table

12-09-2013 08:14 PM by hjt | 5 comments »

Having one’s tools on wheels, providing mobility in the work shop is great. Have a double duty station that is not only mobile but helps you gain back valuable bench space… now that’s the “cat’s meow.” The drill currently sits on the work bench while the planer is on a make-shift rolling cart I’ve seen here on LJ and on You Tube these flip tables. But better yet, Hank, a local wood worker has one I’ve seen in person and I certainly see how helpful it is. If you are interested i...

Plus, Stumpy gives you a list of things to do with your Sundays now that football season is over… Here’s some screen shots of the sketchup drawing for the machine. The most difficult part about the build was the mount for the joiner. It took a lot of work to get the design just right. If it’s no...

So … among my 3,000 eye problems is intermittent double vision. But … I don’t think that’s the problem, here. I seek the expert counsel of the venerated and revered LumberJocks: IS IT just me …. ?? Tenons are better the second time around!! Incidentally, I occasionally do more than just clean my shop :-) Cheers, All!

Which Tool Would You Buy???

01-30-2008 09:25 AM by Brad | 10 comments »

My birthday is coming up and I’ve told everyone nothing but money because I want to get some new tools. I’m guessing all in all I’ll have around $500 to spend. I’m considering a band saw, 13” planer, biscuit jointer or a new router/plunge router combo. So what do you guys think??? Which is going to give me the best advance in shop versatility?

My first chest of drawers (small)

04-04-2008 04:37 AM by Jimthecarver | 11 comments »

I built this small chest of drawers from scrap wood that was just laying around the shop. It started with a phone call from my Dad. He had explained that he needed a small chest with 3 drawers to fit between the beds in his fifth wheel trailor. The measurements of 14.5” X 18” X 27” was a tight fit so I decided to use the space wisely and not have an overhang on the top. I decided to use the Herring bone pattern on the top to use up a few small scrap pieces of Oak and Maple,(...

Gun Showcase/Coffee Table #1: Gun showcase/Coffee Table

11-23-2013 05:14 PM by vpbarnwood | 1 comment »

Here is an idea for gun owners that don’t have a gun case or space for a wall gun case. That being said it is not just for guns, you can display just anything that will fit in the case, such as coins, knick knacks, precious mementos. The dimensions are 5’ by 2’ by 18” when it will be finished. There will also be a drawer under the showcase in the center of the table. The wood used is reclaimed barn wood from my barn.
