Biscuits by Home Depot, they worked for me.

461 days ago by Oldtool | 2 comments »

I’m in the middle of an oak trestle table build for my son & DIL, and currently just finished gluing up the top. The top is made from three 17” wide boards, purchased at a local saw mill, and the owner was gracious enough to provide S2S for me on this purchase, as I mentioned to him that my planer is limited to 13”. Even though the top boards are surfaced to 3/4”, I know I’ll need to plane & scrape after glue up to remove all machining marks, so I want...

Make a Folding Out Feed Table for your Table Saw

548 days ago by WoodJediNTraining | 16 comments »

This Week I show you how to make a folding out feed table for your table saw. This design was based after an article and plan found in a 2009 issue of Woodworker’s Journal Magazine. Originally the plan was designed for a Cabinet saw with a Biesemeyer Fence System, so I had to make some slight modifications for my Porter Cable Saw. In this 3 part video series I show you a step by step on building this project as well as talk about the modifications I had to make. The Article and plans ca...

Kitchen Cabinets #4: Slowing Progress

553 days ago by HRLou | 0 comments »

It’s been a couple of weeks since I updated. Funny how life gets in the way of what you’d really like to be doing… The cases and frames are mostly done and dry-fit. There’s a little tweaking still, but nothing really major. I still need to decide on how to join the face frames. I’m torn between dowels or taking the dive and getting a plate joiner. Good excuse for a new tool… Next real step will be getting the dividers on the wide cabinets cut to ...

Checkerboard Project #6: Back On Track

575 days ago by Retsof | 4 comments »

I gave up on finishing this checkerboard project in time for Christmas, and then I was out of commission with a bad chest cold for another three weeks. Once I was back to 100%, I got to work finishing my White Oak Bookcase project. Now it’s time I got this one back on track. The last thing I had done on this project was to glue up all the squares for the top. I did half of the board at a time and then used my biscuit joiner to join the two sections together. I put in some time ...

Tip of the day! Use a push stick!

582 days ago by OregonBurls | 30 comments »

THE ART OF NOT TAKING A TRIP TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM!Yesterday I awoke out of my daze of admiring a quilted maple block with a shocking sensation and blood everywhere. The dull blade on my bandsaw did not help and using my hands to push the beautiful block through didn’t help either. Simple word of advise which many of you can attest too. Keep your tools sharp and use a push stick! Lets say it all together now! Keep your tools sharp and use a push stick!Keep your tools sharp and ...

My new 1.5 inch flush trim router bit from Whiteside Router bits was purchased with a generous amount of glue covering it (to prevent rust, and from cutting yourself). How might I get this glue off?

Checkerboard Project #3: Squaring Up The Squares

629 days ago by Retsof | 0 comments »

It was a good day in the garage. I need a few more like this one to keep me on track to finish this project and a few others before Christmas Eve. First I cut the pieces for the base frame, box sides, and the drawer fronts out of White Ash). Because I’m going to attempt dovetail joints for the first time on the box sides, I cut the sides by hand and jointed the edges by hand to make sure they were perfectly matched. My playing surface was about a quarter of an inch ove...
