Butterfly Dining Table #7: Cutting, Sizing and Framing the Top

12-18-2015 12:21 AM by Guy Dunlap | 9 comments »

In this video, I cut the three pieces that make up the top that totals 8’ when fully expanded. I also show how to install the butterfly hinges for the folding extension. Then I cut corners off and prepare the lumber for the solid wood frame along with making a solid “inlay” detail around the entire top. As always, I welcome your questions and comments! To get updates of this build as I go along, please follow me on Instagram – https://instagram.com/guyswoodshop...

About a year ago I came across a handful of older hand tools at an estate sale and since then I’ve put them to use and have been accumulating more and more hand tools. I recently moved and felt ashamed to put them in carboard boxes and crates I quickly made to get by with the time constraint. Now that I’m setting up shop all over again from scratch (divorce), literally from the ground up. I have the...

09-24-2015 05:05 PM by Gwjames | 15 comments »

Everyone wanted a cu...

04-13-2015 07:35 AM by GCM | 5 comments »

One coat of Ivory chalk paint, 2 coats of Cyan chalk paint (first coat epic fail due to miscalculation of amount required), and 2 coats of finishing wax after sanding and distressing. ...
