08-27-2012 04:29 PM by OregonBurls | 5 comments »

Green burls or straight grain have two places where water finds its home. Inside the cells and outside the cells, this is called bound water (inside the cells) and free water (outside the cell walls). Free water is easier to escape than the bound wa...

Noah's Ark #1: The Plans and my first cuts.

08-16-2012 08:56 AM by DigBaddy | 0 comments »

My name is Keith. I am very new to scroll sawing. I received a scroll saw for Father’s Day, so that makes me about 2.5 months old in scroller years. :) I started off in my scrolling hobby by cutting some basic puzzles from this book. A few of the ABC snake puzzles later and I was itching for something a little more challenging. I stumbled upon Toy Maker Press and was immediately drawn to their Noah’s Ark sets. I’ve wanted to build one for my little nieces for quite ...

07-26-2012 08:41 PM by WoodJediNTraining | 8 comments »

Woodworker's Auction #2

06-19-2012 09:17 PM by natesd | 1 comment »

The end date for my Dad’s auction is a little less than a week away (June 25). Every time I look at listing on the auction sight I can’t believe how much stuff there is. I said in my first blog about this auction that “all” his tools and remaining stock of lumber was up for sale. That isn’t quite true my brother and I have kept a few tools and a stock of wood for our own use in years to come. But it’s hard to believe that what we have kept is maybe a fourth...
