Shop time and dovetails (at last)

03-08-2013 05:02 PM by RaggedKerf | 1 comment »

After what seemed to me (someone who’s lived in a state where winter was 3 months—Jan, Feb, March—-Florida, where there is no winter and Texas where winter lasts from Jan to Feb) an interminal winter, the garage finally warmed up to 40 today and I could no longer hold back. I had to make some cuts and smell sawdust or I was going to scream. I haven’t been out there since early November when the temps started falling. The natives around here assure me this was still ...

Texas Cane

03-01-2013 05:14 PM by mpounders | 11 comments »

I got a NEW lathe! So now I can turn longer shafts for canes and other things. Really pleased with it. Here is a cane I’m doing as a commission, with an antler handle and a lot of carving on the shaft. The designs are based on leatherworking patterns and will cover most of the cane. May end up having to keep it! I am working on a design for another lizard cane, a lady here in Arkansas may want a couple of canes, and a gentleman in Canada has contacted me about a Santa staff. Hopeful...

03-01-2013 02:57 AM by WoodJediNTraining | 12 comments »

This week I decided to rebuild my tablesaws extension wing/router table. This time I removed the factory metal wing along with my old router table extension and built a new wing using the MDF and famica from last weeks build. This new extension wing combos as a router table as well as it has a pull out support arm that allows me to support my material as i cross cut long boards or sheets goods no matter if I am using a sled or not, because the support arm is adjustable. Here is a look at some...

Make a Folding Out Feed Table for your Table Saw

02-20-2013 05:22 PM by WoodJediNTraining | 16 comments »

This Week I show you how to make a folding out feed table for your table saw. This design was based after an article and plan found in a 2009 issue of Woodworker’s Journal Magazine. Originally the plan was designed for a Cabinet saw with a Biesemeyer Fence System, so I had to make some slight modifications for my Porter Cable Saw. In this 3 part video series I show you a step by step on building this project as well as talk about the modifications I had to make. The Article and plans ca...

Getting Organized with recessed Shelf Units

01-23-2013 09:37 PM by WoodJediNTraining | 3 comments »

In my last video I showed you all the renovation of the old shop space, during that renovation, I made some recess cavities in one wall of the shop. In this video I walk you through the steps of making the recess shelf unit to go into those cavities. These recess shelves are not just for the shop, they can be used in the home as well! Add some glass shelves and you have a nice knick-knack display shelf, or use them around the home for any organizing needs.
