Basket Weave Pattern #1: How to do it

Basket Weave Pattern Technique Adapted from the book “High Relief Wood Carving” by William J Schnute. Layout a grid of squares. Each side of the grid equal to the width of the carving gouge you’ll use. In this instance, the gouge is 5/16mm. Each side is therefore 16mm, or about 5/8”. basket weave boxes

Ok a little while ago I posted a project that was a box that was made to look like a basket weave. It is very striking to look at if you dont know how it is made and is really easy if you have a scroll saw. A few people were interested in the making of it so here goes- First thing first get yourself a pattern, there are a few books about making basket weave boxes. Or alternately you could make your own.
