Hi All- We have just bought a farm house that comes with a barn. We would like to replace flooring throughout the house and the barn that comes with the property is old, but in good condition. It has a 2nd story loft floor that I think would make perfect floors. They are 6”x 3/4” tongue and groove pine planks. Any advice on the process of using this as flooring for our house? I assume they will need planed down. I want to keep as much character as possible, but also want floors that are fl...
At the beginning of August, with the discovery of mold in my kitchen, I began building new countertops. The wood for this work all came from my inlaws barnwood. After getting the countertops glued up, I was interupted by life (teaching, UPS, kids, divorce, and more). Where I left off, I had just gotten the sections back from a local cabinetshop where it was run through a drum sander….. Well, FOUR MONTHS LATER, what a thrill to get back into the shop three days ago. I am tryi...
We’re going to use a Dremel router to make a sign with recessed lettering. I suggest barnwood because of the contrast between the weathered surface texture and ‘fresh cut’ letters. Stock: Barnwood 2”x10”x24” Suggested material and dimensions Safety: Goggles, F...

“The inner compasses of the mind must encircle the whole quantity of material beforehand” – medieval poet Geoffrey de Vinsauf. Here’s a few before shots, as in before I know what I want to make with them…. ..and… That’s a soda can in the middle for reference… • In the forefront are two old pieces of wood that I found next to a creek, they may be old bridge boards as they had several 20 penny nails in them, are almost 3 inches thick, almost 12 inches wide and...
