Barnwood Countertops #1: Introduction

At the beginning of August, with the discovery of mold in my kitchen, I began building new countertops. The wood for this work all came from my inlaws barnwood. After getting the countertops glued up, I was interupted by life (teaching, UPS, kids, divorce, and more). Where I left off, I had just gotten the sections back from a local cabinetshop where it was run through a drum sander….. Routed Sign Making #1: Routed 'Sign Making Class'

We’re going to use a Dremel router to make a sign with recessed lettering. I suggest barnwood because of the contrast between the weathered surface texture and ‘fresh cut’ letters. I also have enhanced the letters by burning (pyrography) the edges of the letters for increased readability. Of course you can scale up to larger routers if you chose.
