It’s here: .When they tell you that it takes 20 or 30 people to move it—particularly up or down stairs—don’t be an idiot. It really does..I (as in me and nobody else!) had a ‘weight belt on,’ but … I’ll be on Ibuprofen and the gym’s hot tub (and—if I beg—SWMBO’s back rubs!) for about a week. At this particular moment, I don’t even care what this thing will do. I just want to feel better … and THEN I&...
I’VE BEEN RESAWING FOR SOME TIME NOW WITHIN THE LIMITS OF MY SAW. I HAVE A JET 14” BANDSAW. I WAS ORIGINALLY LIMITED TO ITS STANDARD HEIGHT MEANING I COULD ONLY RESAW A BOARD WHICH WAS AT MAX SIX INCHES HIGH. THIS WAS VERY TIME CONSUMING WHEN TRYING TO GET A BOARD SAY 15” WIDE BUT 1/2” THICK. MOST OF THE STOCK I USE IS AT LEAST 1” THICK. I WAS TIRED OF WASTING THE OTHER 1/2” OF WOOD BY PLANING IT OFF TO GET THE THICKNESS I WANTED. I COULD RESAW IT THINN...
I just cut into some more Black walnut. The 2 pieces are 14 1/2×32 x 4I keep getting impressed by our creator!
So in my last blog I noted that I have added a bandsaw to my arsenal of tools. It was a great deal and needed a new blade and some quick cleaning up. Well I went and got a blade yesterday and cleaned up the saw and installed the new blade today. Then I just played around a bit. Here are the two projects I did in order to play around some and get familiar with the tool. I decided I would just post them here and not as an actual project, maybe I’ll have something by the end of the weekend...
I just got a picture of my bass being biult by Pete Skjolds. The body is ash and the top is out of my wood… Madrone Burl.Pete says it is going to be stunning! Can’t wait!! !
I took the fam to the beach. They play while I work. The beach is a great place to find burls and good figured wood.I got about 30 BF of this tigar striped Maple. Nice stuff. I cut it up into 2” think boards.
This is in addition to the burl blog I put on a week ago. Thank you for all the reads. This is to the best of my knowledge and I am still learning.I have found crazy figure in tree crotches. A tree crotch is where two branches come together. It is usually the piece that fire wood people don’t want because it doesn’t slit. That is because the crotch is the hardest part of the tree and the grain in going in different directions. It’s where you get what is called “feather”. “Haring bone, r...
Hey everyone, I was asked by a few of you from my blog “How to find legal burls” “once I get them how do I cut the burls”? Well I just made a short vidio on how I cut to the burl in the context of a bowl or hollow form blank. Please coment and add if I don’t cover it well. If you not want to go thru the hassle of finding and cutting your own you can alway buy from me. LOLThanksGreg Thanks Todd on the tip for getting the video on this post.
with my Delta Bandsaw. The guy called me about 8:30 and he was at a restaurant about 10 minutes away. I told him I would meet him there and pick up the saw. Let’s get it home. It’s here. I’d like to know… Sounds like my old Plymouth trying to start. That blade is rubbing against SOMETHING Phase 1 Skip to the end of this video Running the motor I’m an idiot, no, seriously, but I figure it out in a in a later video so stay tuned I’m gonna take i...
A couple of months ago, I bought this bandsaw off Craigslist. It’s a great little Grizzly BS. A couple of weeks ago I bought about 50 bd ft of Black Walnut from a fella at First Monday Trade Days in Canton, TX for only $2.00 a bd ft. (killer deal). I think I forgot how big the opening is for my BS. Looks like I’ll be buying a riser block and new BS blades now. I’m going to use this lumber to build a baby crib..
