The Wavy Larry- my jig

01-12-2010 04:12 AM by dustbunny | 18 comments »

I’ve had several LJ’s request pics of the jig I made for the wavy Larry board. I’ve snapped a few pics and sent PM’s with bits and pieces of info individually. Mikethetermite asked for some info a few days ago and I decided to bit the bullet and take the time to do it as a blog. Here goes- On my band saw table I have a sacrificial board- 3/4” plywood squared and framed to the table. The back frame piece unscrews and swings up to put the board on and off the ta...

resawing #1: At last, a resawing jig!

06-15-2009 12:31 PM by Gary Fixler | 7 comments »

I got 2 1” Timberwolf blades from Suffolk Machinery Corp. – 2TPI and 3TI – several months ago, and have been dying to try them out ever since. In that time I had several more projects, mom’s 10-day long yearly visit, my best friends’ wedding, a project I built for that (that I should post one of these days), and so much else. I didn’t want to use them until I had a resawing jig ready to go, so realizing that time was now, I jumped on it yesterday, later in ...

Simple Band Saw Fence

11-01-2012 03:37 AM by arco21 | 9 comments »

I decided it was high time I quit clamping a piece of wood to my bandsaw table whenever I needed a fence, and upgraded to something more easily adjustable. Based on a design for a drill press fence in a recent Woodsmith Small Shops book, I came up with this cleat style fence. I used 2×4’s for the front and back rails, putting the 45 degree angle on them with my table saw. I bolted them to the existing threads on my bandsaw’s fence. The fence is a piece of cherry, and t...

Works for me #5: Adjustable Bandsaw Sled

03-07-2010 10:12 PM by Dave Owen | 8 comments »

This adjustable bandsaw sled works on the same principle as a taper sled for a table saw. I initially designed it for quick and accurate repetitive cuts on the toy racer shown below, but it works great for any kind of angled cuts on the bandsaw. I believe it will also work well for shorter tapered legs, although I haven’t tried it for that yet. The body of the sled is 3/4” MDF, and the fence and stop are made from scraps of Phenolic-faced plywood. The anchor bolt for the...

Homemade Band Saw #1: Getting started...

03-08-2013 06:10 PM by dakremer | 10 comments »

I’ve been keeping my eye on WoodGears for a while now. I’d love to build all of his contraptions, but don’t have the time or the space at the moment. I’ve been wanting to build his bandsaw for some time now, and finally took the plunge. Plus I just got my tax refund back, and instead of buying an expensive bandsaw (a tool I currently do not own), why not just make one? I will try and keep the blog current and take as many pictures as I can. Hopefully most of the p...

A Keychain is Born ~ 8/30/10 ~ With Video

08-30-2010 10:29 AM by dustynewt | 9 comments »

I must apologize for my lack of interaction here on LumberJocks. I am on the night shift at the paper mill and my neighbors don’t dig the 2:30 am woodworking bit, so I have been limited to my keychain work and ya’ll have seen that. It is my night off and I remembered a couple requests a while back to do a blog on my keychain process. So, here ‘tis! I hope the video comes out right. I’ve been experimenting with my CoolPix. Short videos? I can do that! So I decided to...

Bandsaw Box Bandit #5: Its all finished except the finish

08-09-2009 04:21 PM by Walnut_Weasel | 7 comments »

Well I was finally able to finish my second box yesterday. That is, everything is finished but the finish… I went to Home Depot to get some clear oil, and for some reason the crappy depot here in our small town does not carry it! I knew I should have bought some when I was at Lowes earlier in the week! Oh and I still need to buy flocking for the inside. That is also impossible to find in this small town. I guess it is time to buy it online! I have also noticed that I need to wo...
