After several e-mails requesting the plans for the Dan Walters cutting board I copied I decided to put some information together to get people started.
The first thing to decide is what size of board you want as this will dictate the stock you need. Or the stock you have will dictate what size cutting board you can make.

I’m posting these pictures as a means to get bloggin’…and, because I’m interested in milling and drying lumber (on a scale that I can accommodate – in the backyard). I’m in the process of building a new workbench based on Bob Lang's bench as detailed in the October 2008 issue of Popular Woodworking. I’ve read Christopher Schwarz book “Workbenches: From Design And Theory To Construction And Use” as well as several others. It always seemed like I wanted a combination of the features I found in most other benches. Bob Langs design was the first I’d seen that incorporated everything I wanted in a bench, so here goes!

As you may have guessed, I make many of these tables. The practice is needed, and the combinations of woods make it very interesting.
These were all made from the plexiglass templates shown. By using these templates, I can make these tops very quickly.
I also have other shapes that are more complicated, which I’ll post at another time.

I’ve got the shorts sorted out, but still don’t have a T ruler… one step at a time.
So I took the table saw, shop vac, outfeed roller, and everything else that was in the way out of the garage and started organizing the stack of shorts I got.

After completing the new counter top, my next step will be to breakdown the adjacent cabinet that I used to store my 13” planer and bench top router table. Eventually, I will store the planer on the bottom shelf of the workbench.

This is my entry for the bookcase challenge. I designed my bookcase to be modular and have simple modern lines. I eliminated the “top” and “bottom” to give the piece an open feel and to reinforce the feeling that the shelves are “floating”.
