Regarding size:Size and proportions are important…to a point. We will be building a box that will start out at 11 1/8 W x 7 D x 4 1/2 H. (After shaping it will finish out at about 3 7/8’’ 10 3/4’’ x 6 3/4’’ x depending on how much shaping is done.)

Well here I go. For over 40 years I have smoked real heavy. 2- 4 packs a day. I have enphasima , asma and every thing else that goes with it. they said only 20% of my l;ungs left. and still smoking. Everyone has bneen trying to get me to stop smoking and over this past weekend My oldest son and I was out talking and he said that if I would stop smoking that he would stop also. Well this is Tuesday and I havent had a cigarette sence sunday evening. I started a new wood burning and I had to ...

Hey everyone,
I was asked by a few of you from my blog “How to find legal burls” “once I get them how do I cut the burls”?
Well I just made a short vidio on how I cut to the burl in the context of a bowl or hollow form blank.
Please coment and add if I don’t cover it well. If you not want to go thru the hassle of finding and cutting your own you can alway buy from me. LOLThanksGreg

Inprocess photos … two tiles to choose from.
frame is 4/4 quartersawn white oak. dyed, stained and seedlac … still needs a little work.
Which tile looks best in the frame ?
Photos are taken in my shop, on my table saw, covered with a burlap furniture blanket, under a 48 inch fluorescent light.

Now we need to cut a recess in the lid for the medallion to set down into.DONT cut your medallion until you have routed out the home for it.I typically make the medallion about 1” to 1.5” smaller on all sides than the lid depending on the box size and the piece of wood I have for the medallion.

I am laying out the legs now to accept the panels and railsThis is where the center stile will fit into the top and bottom rail.The tenons are only 1/4” and the panels will float in the rails and stiles. The strength that holds the sides together will be from the rails, the top and bottom shelf which will be 3/8” X 1 1/4” tenons pined from the legs.
