Click for Hi-Resolution Video
Woodworkers throw away your roller stand once and for all!
My last Ezee-Feed video was a bit of a teaser as I unpacked and started the installation process. Well I finally got the Ezee-Feed system installed on my saw. What a sweet accessory! I have a very small shop. This system allows me to cut sheets of plywood without any help. As a side note, my saw guard was left off for clarity while shooting the video . . . something I would not do on a regular ba...

A few months ago I had read an article about ebonizing wood with steel wool and vinegar. Awhile back I tried this and absolutely nothing happened. I never even tried again. Ebonizing is a stain of sorts I guess. I also have heard there are several ways of doing this. The reason the original article caught my eye was because I sure as hell don’t have the money to buy Ebony (wood), and I am forever wanting or needing dark/black wood for my projects and I do not like to use paint, to the ...

This is the second part of my blog and in this blog I am going to talk about writing a business plan, and past mistake I have made in business.
Now this is the third shop I have started and if I have learned anything it is this, to be successful you need a plan! There it is. Now the first two times I did not write a business plan, I did not write a marketing plan. Really all I did was run into a guy who knew a guy who had a building to rent and the next thing I knew I had a shop and a whol...

(This post is based on a LumberJocks.com forum thread.) After completing my dust collection system installation, I turned to my air cleaner, the Delta 50-875. I had decided to install it just above my table saw—about 2/3rd’s of the way along the wall, where the intake would be in line with the front door and the outfeed inline with the ceiling mounted vent fan. After reading “Woodshop Dust Control” this seemed like the ideal placement and this location had the added be...

I am sure most of you that have seen my Art Boxes have read my comments, tips and my lengthy answers explaining my process. So…I am thinking that many of you probably have enough information to make your own box without further help from me.But maybe not. What I would like to know is how many Jockeys out there would like me to do a tutorial, step by step,on a new box? With lots of clear photographs?
I have to be honest here, its alot of work to do a good job on this and my time could be s...

so just like every other woodworker at one point (what’s up with the other every other woodworkers is beyond me…) I was researching and learning about ways to sharpen my chisels, planes, and other blade tools in the shop.
Since I am the weekend warrior at this point, and I do not need to resharpen my tools THAT often, nor THAT much, I figure that I can do without any expensive powertools (there are several of those on the market) to sharpen blades and I dont really have the spa...

About twenty some years ago I bought a professional door making router bit set made by Freud. Included in the set, which I still own and use even after making hundreds of doors with it, was plans for a router fence.
I bought the set for the first set of raised panel doors I made. The doors were for another contractor, and he needed them pretty quickly.
After seeing the plans I realized I could make good use of a fence like that. It had the same adjustments as a shaper fence. The left an...

I’m a little late in posting the blog but I can say that the new woodshop is finally done! We had a few, (about 40) friends, realatives & neighbors over for an “Open Shop”. And with my brother Tony’s award winning wine, (with custom labels I might add) we christened it… ”The New Show-Me Woodshop”. (Those New Englanders with big TV shows don’t have a thing on us Midwesterners!... Except Sponsers)
Besides making a few items for the shop,...

I just built this router table out of Oak plywood, Oak trim, and a Pine drawer. It’s from a plan in Woodsmith This project appeared in Woodsmith Magazine No. 131, Vol. 22 / No.8 I’ve added the link to the plan below. The drawer has full slide hardware. I guess the fun part is building a router table without a router table ;-) . I’ve used it quite a bit so far and really like it.

After seeing the neat job that MOT/ Tom did with his shooting board I was enticed to make one of my own.I am in the middle of milling some wood for small boxes so I will needed something to handle these small gauge materials.I am a pack rat and wood hoarder by genetic make up so when I dug through one of my precious piles of scrap I found an old poplar plywood shelf, a piece of arborite (Tom’s idea) and a piece of 3/4” fir flooring plywood. The rest were off cuts of oak walnut etc ...
