My Old Adirondack Chairs #1: Good bye Old Chair Friends

Like saying Good Bye to a favorite friend, I made these over 29 years ago and it lead to making …well I am up to 17 chairs. It helps to give them away as wedding presents 2 at a time. These are from Woodsmith plans, also with a coffee table. I really love about these that they DON’T slope so deep in the back of the chair like most Adirondack chairs. I have had men 6 foot tall sit in these and when they get out they are pleased that it was not like most needing a crane to pull...

when I was a freshman in high school (1995), I won the end of the year award for woodshop when I produced an Adirondack Chair. Now 2014, I am still at it. I only get better and better at them. Now I am giving them some Texas, southwestern, rustic flare with a cut-out the shape of the state. I now make Adirondack chairs on a weekly basis mostly for therapy. But I sell them too. OK – the auction is coming up quick and they are supposed to be picking up my chairs this week so I had to hustle and get these done. I, therefore, did not take as I go pictures on the finish up.
