Anybody experiencing site browsing problems?

481 days ago by Martin Sojka | 33 comments »

Obi is reporting frequent problems browsing around the site i.e. Cannot Locate server or page cannot be Found. I’m planning to upgrade server again and perform some fine tuning to get well prepared for the upcoming LJ/PW Challenge. To be honest I’m slightly surprised to hear about these problems after the recent upgrade this week. But who knows ;) So if you’re experiencing similar problems report them here please because I need to know where the bottlenecks should be....

"Routing My Mind for a Walkabout" --by RusticWoodArt

481 days ago by frank | 9 comments »

”Routing My Mind for a Walkabout” ....and so after making a comment this morning about ‘a need to get new pics’ I started thinking! Hmmm, hmm, hm, yes well I can already hear my mind working as a fine piece of machinery, tick-tock-tock-tick. One’s mind is like a fine tuned router, ready at the flick of a switch to start ‘routing’ those shapes and edges that we have held on firmly to as ideas. And then those ideas, which in essence are only opini...

My Workshop Series #1: The Main Workshop Area

481 days ago by PeterJ | 19 comments »

The main workshop area was the first part to be built about 40 years ago when I was still young and was mainly intended as a repair facility. At the time I thought that it would be adequate as power tools and stationary tools were not yet generally available or affordable as that was still the golden age of hand tools. The ceiling height of the main workshop is 1900mm but reduced down to 1760mm for the door opening and overhead beam and shelving. AS I said this is adequate for myself but not...

Buddy Icon

481 days ago by Lemonjello | 8 comments »

I’ve tried several time to replace the buddy icon with a picture, to no avail. I’m using a MAC and Safari browser and I can choose file and click upload. Nothing, it goes to a blank screen and have waited for ten minutes and not happening. Any clues?

Well, I got one project done

481 days ago by WayneC | 1 comment »

I’ve been hammered at work this week and have had little time to do any woodwork. I was able to get out into the shop tonight and put together a simple coping sled for my router table. It felt good to get something put together. I had picked up a new flush trim bit a couple of weekend ago and made a handle from a template. A few pieces of MDF and a couple of clamps and I am off and running. All and all a good way to release some stress. I’m trying to decide what to work on...

MIA...update.....

482 days ago by Dusty | 6 comments »

Fellow Lumberjocks… I have not been very active lately on Lumberjocks because I have been busy preparing for a national certification test. This has been very time consuming. Also, my parents are getting along well into old age and require a lot of attention. My father has just been diagnosed in the final stages of Parkinsons. This has presented some new challenges since my mother just had her hip replaced. I also still take care of Ms D and am helping her prepare for a...

The Chairs -

482 days ago by schroeder | 17 comments »

The dining room chair portion of the project was challenging for me. As I had never built chairs before, I did the research and decided on a plan from “In the Craftsman Style”, by Rex Alexander. The chair is daunting and me being a little slow, I ended up building 9 prototypes (and then cutting into scrap) from ash before gathering a “technique” for completing the joinery that would reflect the craftsmanship I wanted. I ended up with the chair above, I made the first two sets for my wife, (...

My Name is Todd, and I am a LumberJock Junkie...

482 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 23 comments »

Is There Help? Well, I have been with LumberJocks for a solid week and I am just thoroughly addicted. I often check in during the day when I take a break from the shop, and I can’t wait to get home from the jobsite to check in on the postings and comments. “Do the clients have a computer I can get on? Do they have wireless available? Focus Todd! Focus!” More to Come I have plenty to share, and just as important – to learn. I have great experience, but sh...
