Jigs and Fixtures #3: Shooting Board Basics - VIDEO

360 days ago by mot | 32 comments »

WayneC, Bob #2 and I, have had some conversations about shooting boards. The conversations don’t last long because we all agree with eachother. It’s really the death of conversation. I put together a 15 minute overview of the basics of the shooting board. Please note, the shooting board is a tool that will have unlimited uses in yo...

I love College Football in general, and specifically the CU Buffaloes. So, I used Folsom Field as inspiration. I also used Layout, which comes with SketchUp Pro, and used the style feature to add a more hand drawn look in certain views.

Cigar-Box Guitar How-To

378 days ago by WhiskeyWaters | 3 comments »

I wrote this article/post/manual for a Technical Writing course I took this fall. Couldn’t think of any technical aspects of teaching, but luckily, woodworking came to my rescue. I borrowed heavily from Make magazine’s article on cigar-box making, but I got a little more specific (I hope), and well, added a modification page from some of the other guitars I made. Sorry, no pictures – but I think y’all will get the picture. If you have trouble, give a shout and I&#...

621 days ago by fred | 17 comments »

I love making jigs. It is a great sense of confidence and actually takes longer to make them then it does to use them. I like to build things in the shop and making jigs is fun. I want to share some of them with you. Yes, I know there is a forum for jigs, but it has been 36 days since anyone posted in it. My first jig was a finger joint jig. On my recent making of a jewelry box I made a hinge mortising jig. When I was making cabinet for the dining room and the entertainme...

Folding Gun Rack #1: Drawings

463 days ago by Buckskin | 5 comments »

My fellow Legionnaires got called out today to provide Military Honors for a Brother who got orders to report to the CG above. While we were getting ready to go I mentioned I had seen this awesome portable gun rack (http://lumberjocks.com/projects/2847, courtesy of Proclamator) that we could sure use while we wait. Like all things Military, waiting is just standard procedure it seems. Anyway the boys (most old enough to be my Dad) where ecstatic about it when I said I had enough scrap layi...
