Well, here is my first project I completed back in about 2002 or so. It is a garden bench that I made for my grandparents to put on their porch. These are recent pictures and as you can see it has held up pretty well over the last 5 years. I believe this is made out of cypress. I took some lumber that my grandfather had stored outside for probably 20 years. It was really rough stuff, but after sanding, then planing it revealed some really nice wood. No finish, just completed and set o...

My bride LuLu and I are back from a relaxing weekend at Tan-Tara, a beautiful resort in the Ozark region of Missouri. We had a relaxing and inspirational week-end.My withdrawals from the lack of being able to walk into the shop and “tinker” have subsided some since we returned.I began taking measurements and making a drawing relative to moving my shop to a larger and more functional area of the basement. It will be a long process but I’m excited and cant wait to begin. I wil...

Had my grandson over today and we made a pencil holder and started Moms foot stool.Unfortunately SAS (Short Attention Span) took over and we shipped the boy over to Grandma for swimming lessons. We were hoping for Mot and his Kids but croup took its toll on the fun.
Cheers

The wind has calmed a bit, but I am still very much on edge. The closest fire front is southeast of me, and the prevailing wind has been ENE. Had a bit of ash, and the occasional whiff of smoke. Man, I hate that smell. My truck is packed and pointed in the right direction if I have to make a run for it. Which will be as soon as I see flames coming my way.
Thanks for your prayers- they seem to be working!Myron

This is my very first project I’m attempting. I’ve been studying (books, DVDs, TV shows) the craft for a few years now while I built up my repertoire of tools. So that means almost every tool and technique I attempt, is really for the first time. The only other experience I have is with house remodeling.
So far, everything is going well and I am actually nearing the end.
It’s based on Rockler’s plans, with a few modifications which I’ll point out in the ...
