Lumberjocks T-shirt has arrived!

705 days ago by Red Headed Merganser | 3 comments »

Love the feel and fit of the organic cotton. Now if I can just find my digital camera… Thank goodness I don’t keep it in the workshop! I’d NEVER find it then. But, funny enough, I’m having a hard enough time trying to find it here in the house. eh… I’m sure it will turn up. When it does, I’ll post a new pic.

Sometimes it can be fun

712 days ago by Shawn | 1 comment »

To take some boards you have no need forl, and just see what happens. My wife and I are moving, and I had an 8’ solid pine shelf that I used for tool storage ect above my pegboard in our old basement suite. With the move I had no need for it, so now i had just an 8 foot pine 1×10. For more of the story, you need, more of the story. I’m currently building a nice oak entertainment center, but in the mean time I still have my ugly black vaneered MDF one, and an old Ikea 3 d...

T shirt People !!

724 days ago by Dick, & Barb Cain | 4 comments »

We just received the batch of T shirts we ordered. My wife thought Black would be a nice color. We like them. Our Grandson sure liked his gift. This is what happens when you tell a 12 year old to put a little more smile into it.

Merry Christmas

15 days ago by Bret | 4 comments »

I haven’t completed any woodworking projects yet, but a few weeks ago I found this video of my contribution to last year’s Christmas Eve service at my church. It’s a rendition of “O Holy Night” on saxophone (I play tenor and soprano) and I’m posting it here even though it’s outside the normal topics here in the hope that it brings some joy, peace, and love to anyone interested enough to listen. Thanks again to all the LJ folks for the warm recepti...

Thanks for the welcome

23 days ago by Jarod | 6 comments »

That was probably the best welcome i’ve ever gotten on an internet forum. Pretty awesome. You guys are great. Sorry it took me until today to respond, i’ve been out all weekend. So step one of setting up shop is going to be cleaning out my garage & organizing it so I have some room to work. With 2 motorcycles this proves challenging, but I think I can do it. I have a lot of motorcycle parts that are going to have to go though. Unfortunately, this is a insanely busy ti...

Making of a dog #6: Starting to look - sorta like a dog

38 days ago by Betsy | 3 comments »

Got quite a lot done today. I’m down to painting it and making the final assembly. I think I made a good choice on the paint color as it actually looks close to the little one’s dog. I should be able to sand this down a little tomorrow to get all the nubs off and put on the second coat. I had to come up with a way to hold the dog’s head up to get the paint on without having to do one side then the other. I had a small stroke on genius and discovered my bench dog h...

Various Projects #2: Stocking/Coat hanger Part 2: Supplies

40 days ago by Tomcat1066 | 0 comments »

No project can begin without supplies. We need things like sand paper and whatnot. Well, I just ordered some and some contoured sanding grips to help sand inside the tricky spots of my stocking/coat hanger. In addition, I ordered the hooks and hangers for the back of it. So, I’m all set for getting this bad boy done as soon as they get here. Based on when I ordered, I suspect they’ll be here next Thursday, just in time for next weekend to serve for getting the whole thing don...

Constructing "Old 99" #11: Building steam

126 days ago by MrWoody | 0 comments »

After dry fitting all the previously made pieces I decided that I didn’t like the look of the 1/8” thick plaques on the sides of the cabin so I pried them off and made new ones. I also decided that the walnut cylinders weren’t right either.I photocopied the side trim pieces again and glued them to maple and walnut 1/16” stock. I then used a Sharpie and made the lines on the walnut thicker inside. These were then cut out the same way as the originals and glued to the cab. Nex...

Cutting Board Learning #1: First Steps

167 days ago by Davidramsey03 | 5 comments »

BEFORE I START, IF YOU READ THIS, AND CAN OFFER ADVICE ON IMPROVING THIS WITHOUT BUYING ANYTHING OVER $25, I’D LOVE TO HEAR YOUR ADVICE. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!! I bought some clearance pen blanks from Rockler (Pau Ferro, Indian Rosewood, and Cherry, I think). Not having any “larger” tools or super-fine precision tools (band saw, table saw, router table, etc.) I decided I would begin the adventure the “backwoods” way. I Started by laying them together, checki...
