Jewelry Box #1: Shhhhh! Xmas present for Mrs. Slappy! Don't tell!

478 days ago by slaphitter | 2 comments »

Well, wife has used the same cheapie jewerly box for about 17 years. I originally bought it for her from a department store, way back in the dark ages, and I guess it serves its purpose. But it isn’t even wood – it’s made of fabric wrapped around who-knows-what. So this year I am going to build her a huge jewelry chest. The production-line gift for relatives is going to be something else, but under cover of that project I have begun working on the chest. The primary...

Oak Workbench #4: Starting the Base

478 days ago by MattD | 2 comments »

In part 4 of this workbench adventure, I’ve added some ash strips to the sides with oak pegs and planed them down flat to the benchtop. The ash is from an old tree I took down in my mother’s back yard and it’s been drying since early spring. Western Design Conference...What A Ride!

479 days ago by dennis mitchell | 20 comments »

My head is still spinning. Just getting to the show has been a trial. This was my third try to get past the jury process. I’ve heard about how hard it is just to get accepted into the show. So in my innocence I figured I’d go all out and bring everything. That meant getting a booth. Hauling everything up there. Setting it all up. A good bit of time and money involved. Part of getting ready was getting all new tires on my “good” truck, a 96 GMC with just about 100,000 m...

Hi AllHere we go. This is my first attempt at writing a blog and I’m very new at Sketchup. I watched most of the tutorials and played for hours. Now I have to figure out how to get my pictures in here from Paint Bucket. I used the CN Tower in Toronto as my inspiration. I hope everyone is having as much fun as I am.BruceCanadian Wood Chuck
