The base is completed. This is way beyond the weekend project I planned. Now I’m thinking about a finish for the base. I originally planned on painting it a solid color with an exterior oil paint, but the douglass fir looks good to me (my wife thinks so too), so I might just do a BLO/turp finish on that also. Ok, why is it so difficult for me to remember my camera when I’m working on this thing? Last night I was taking the clamp (large rubber band clamp) and tape (blue painter’s tape) off of my box, and I realized I hadn’t been taking ANY pictures as I originally planned on doing. Yesterday, I was outside enjoying the “perfect” weather and taking some pictures of flowers, when I sat down on a log by the woodpile to see what I could see….
