I thought I would include a few more photos, showing the construction details.
I’m not sure why I always end up with the photos in reverse order, but maybe you should start from the bottom!

I think it’s time for a new workbench. The old fold up table works ok for some things, but it’s not great for holding work flat and it’s too low.
I got a ton of short 6/4 white oak boards from a local woodworker a few weeks ago. Since then, I have been stuck with the idea of making them into a workbench top and got a start on it today.
The main features I’m planning are:
24” x 60”
2 1/2” Thick
Front and End vise
Round Dog holes

It’s been a while since I posted any projects, so I figured I’d better do so before you all forget my name.
I previously posted a Library stair unit, and this table is the accompaning piece of furniture to that.
The client needed a conference table, but he also wanted a workbench, as he was prone to dismantel his computer occasionaly, in name of improving it.

The king is dead.
A few weeks back, while we sure had some fierce gusts of wind, which caused my chess trellis to tip over.
And while the (wood only) joinery of my trellis survived the impact with the ground (rocks and/or pottery) the wood itself did not. I found everything still together, save for the King himself. Good Morning fellow LumberJocks:I had a few moments and thought I’d share a little of my blessings and delimmas with you. I’ll start with the blessing part.

Well, some disappointment for me this week:After checking some metal heat treating companies here I find that they have (understandably) a $60.00 minimum for processing materials. The sort of leaves us little guys out unless we have a whole batch of tools to do at one time.This has never been my good fortune.
So, luckily I had a casting furnace sitting around for years with nobody asking for one so it is now pressed into service as a heat treating unit.

No, I haven’t fallen off the planet and yes I have been working on the EC but at a more relaxed tempo. In my last blog entry things were not going well and I decided that I was burned out and trying too hard so I backed up and decided to proceed at a slower pace.
I have accomplished the glue up of the carcass, fist the ends and then the rails and floor. All went surprisingly well and I am under a 1/16th of an inch out of square diagonally, very good for me at my level of amateur status! T...
