Today posting is a couple of boxes made with some wonderful warm tones. The Cocobolo is a great back drop for the Big Leaf Maple grain flow these two woods just sparkle together with the french polish style finish. I recently purchase a piece of 8/4 Big Leaf Maple from fellow L.J. Stockmaker which I re-saw to make six lids from so these are the first two so stay tune more to come, thanks for viewing….Blkcherry

The home made crown is Tiger Maple as well, the General Dye Stain is becoming a favorite to use due to the wonderful tones they produce this one a mixture of Espresso and Med. Brown. The finish is a mixture of BLO, wood filler and quick dry varnish and then wipe on in multiple coats and then buff off for a smooth satin patina. I recently sold my uni-saw planning to up grade to what I just don’t know yet so I used my Festool circular saw and panel glided to miter the 45 and my band saw to bevel the sides and lid. This little box came out as good if not better than my old routine on the table saw. I do miss the spline accent but I really like the clean look of the Tiger Maple sides…thanks for viewing…Blkcherry

I use a Timber Wolf 3/16” 4tpi blade for the cut out along with the Carter Stabilizer, notice that the cut-out has no burn marks showing you how cool the blade cuts using the Stabilizer. Drunken Woodworker. When I first saw this post it had me coming back to take multiple peeks til I added to my favorite file. With my shop have plenty of cut-off piece of Baltic Plywood and some nice P.A. Black Cherry I had to take a stab at it so I sketch up a drawing and off to the shop I went. I added a backing and some of my own shapes to the base but for the most part it Drunken Woodworker band saw box a brilliant design if I have to say so myself. The Black Cherry really set up nicely with the stack of Baltic plywood once finish with Danish oil and a Shellac finish. Its been awhile since I’ve made a band saw box but it was fun getting back into to making two of them, thanks for viewing your friend in woodworking BC

Today post is one of those LJ’ s classic cutting board designs name after Lumberjock member Sinister. The cut off bin has been brimming at its seams lately so we put some to good uses. Using some nice re-sawn Walnut and Maple along with some sapwood Cherry I came up with these two boards. Finish off with Watco Cutting board oil. The last pic show how I clamp these board together to get a tight squeeze from both direction. If you ever try this one out dry fit the piece together first releasing pressure from one direction at a time allowing the opposite direction to conform into the joining piece. Once you have the feel for a tight fit your ready to glue….thanks for viewing Blkcherry

Today post is filled with a few first for the shop, a new tool being a Festool Domino used extensively on this cube style bookcase, and then the use of Dye Stain to achieve this rich dark espresso color. This piece built with 4 and half sheets of cabinet grade plywood, each piece double laminated and face frame with inch and half x3/4 birch hardwood. The coolest thing about his build was that I built the entire unit on my work bench as shown in the photo, once completed I stood the unit up to stain and finish. The wrapping was for shipping to customer house since it was raining day of delivery. I forgot to get finish photo and then remember once I had the unit wrap. The customers were extremely pleased with the finial results and I was pleased with the new tool and another cool finish to use in future projects. Thanks for viewing…Wilson

I recently found a honey hole of Pennsylvania finest timber, it is by far my favorite wood. This is one of three boxes that I recently assemble I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do, thanks for viewing….Blkcherry
