My honey for the last year or so trying her hand at raising goats. That has meant a lot of carpentry and electrical work for me: First converting an old chicken pen into a barn for the goats with divided rooms, second adding overhead heat and lighting (in progress).
This past week my wife suggested, well asked, for us to look into making goat cheese. Well, to make goat cheese you need goat milk duh; to get goat milk you need to milk goats; to milk goats you need something to keep them steady while milking (Goat Stanchion). So online this morning about designing and building a Goat Stanchion.
Most of the designs don’t look to tough to build—not exactly fine woodworking—but will make good use of my shop and perfect test for new Band Saw. Don’t have a finished design, but the basics are around 2×4 and 2×8 construction. Hope to post next weekend as I have a conference (day job) to go this weekend.
