Melting Pot Build

I have had a lot of requests for a a description of how to build a melting pot, so here goes. A melting pot is simply a turned vase that is dismantled, sanded and put back together, and the end result should be something like this.. This vase is roughly 8×10 inches, and requires a block 8×8x 10 inches long. Use as many contrasting layers as you like, leaving the thinner layers to the outside. Once the glue is set, mount it on the lathe with a face plate. A face plate is important because you will need the bulk on the bottom for later.
