Well I am all moved in to the new house and new shop. the new shop is a dedicated 25×25 outbuilding. I had the floors ground and expoxy coated. OSB on the walls and ceiling. Heated with an overhead natural gas furnace. I am proud that I have not “settled” and built stations right the first time. Does not mean I won’t go back and tweak them but i do not HAVE to go back later and fix them is the point.

I was looking at your workshop photos, how do you like your Grizzly band saw, do you do much resawing? Being a fellow Canadian, were did you buy it?

Trevor—I really like this bandsaw and use it quite frequently. I resaw tree limbs for turning blocks or for small pieces but don’t resaw too much. I have put the riser block from grizzly in and have changed the stock spring to a Carter “Cobra” spring, added my own wheel brush that I made from a toothbrush and wired it for 220V but other than that it is the same saw. I got the bandsaw through my aunt who lives just outside Philadelphia. I had it shipped to her and she brought it up for me when she visited next. When I need parts from Grizzly I have them sent to the UPS depot in Niagara Falls N.Y. and I pick them up. Would I do it again …............. ? Probably! It is a nice bandsaw for what I do.

They say you can’t have enough clamps, but, you are pushing the envelope. Great shop.

Thanks for the reply regarding your band saw. I noticed you have gone to great lengths to insulate your shop for noise reduction, did it make a significant difference in noise levels?

Trevor—Upstairs you can hear machines like the planer or shop vac but by no means do you need to talk over the noise or speak loudly on the phone or turn up the television. So to answer your question….yes it has made a significant difference. I have an apartment in the lower part of my house and my tennant says they can barely hear me even when I crank up the radio and use the saws.

Thanks again for the reply, your insulating results are what I would hope to acheive, I think I am going to insulate my shop.

Hi Kevin,

It looks like you have a nice shop there. It would be nice to see more pictures if you have them available.

Thanks for the post.

Scott I have to apologize I just deleted 4 of the photos this week and I was going to take new ones as I was not happy with the pics I took. I will get new photos up in the next day or two.

Hey Kevin!

Sweet shop! I can’t help but admire your LJ logo. Wonder where you got that from…
Do you know Lockport, NY at all? My hometown. I’m somewhat familiar with your neck of the woods—my dad has owned a couple of sailboats built in Niagara-On-The-Lake (one of my favorite places in the world!)
