I love wood plain and simple. From playing with my grandfathers tools when I was about 5 years old to taking woodshop classes in highschool I have always been drawn to the medium of wood and its beauty. I have an interior design degree from Syracuse University and have been working in the contract furniture industy as a product specialist/project manager for the past 11 years. After highschool I had to put woodworking on the backburner not having access to tools or a shop. Shortly after my wife and I bought our first home she surprised me For my 30th birthday with some powertools so I could remodel our home. Best gift I have ever received. Armed with a pnuematic nailer, a compound miter saw and a small table saw I was able to again work with wood. Over the next 5 1/2 years the projects slowly shifted from projects around the house to furniture projects for the house. In 2005 I took my first commission (shown in my projects) for a family member. I now am doing commission based work on a part-time basis. I consider myself for the most part a self taught woodworker learning through reading, doing (a lot of trial and error) and watching David Marks' Wood Works religiously (I tivo it weekly).

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless
tom
