Has this ever happened to you?

I built this wall unit and took the picture before the walls had there final finish on them and before the company that was doing the crown molding had finished the crown in that room. So I had to come back for pictures after the room was finished and when I came back this is what I got to take a picture of. LOL

The rest of the pics are of some of the other things I did at the home. (everything is knotty alder)
Don’t ask me why but for some reason I have been building a lot of projects out of alder…anyone else?

The owner owns a tool company; I scored a Dewalt 18v Ion battery hammer/driver drill for making the pc of walnut to mount one of his guns on the wall.

Office Cabinetry

These are some cabinets I made for a friend as a house warming gift (kind of) He did buy the material but I did the labor free. (We’ve been close friends since 1st grade)

We designed the cabinets in sketchup.

The wood is Alder ply for the boxes and solid Alder for the face frames and doors. Because it was a freebie we cheated to keep my labor down and ordered the drawer fronts.

The lower section base cabinets are all lateral file cabinets
The top wall cabinets have adjustable shelves with the plastic shelf clips that we are going to change to black spoons.

The stain is BLO, mineral spirits and tint. The finish coats are pre-cat lacquer.

Sorry but the room was too small to get full pictures of the whole wall.

Commissioned Desk
Zebra wood veneer. Top is 1” plywood. Edges are 2 layers of 1” x 3” stacked up to make overall thickness 3”.
Light color stain (mineral spirits, blo, tint), finished with pre-cat lacquer.
Bottom of desk is finished as well because you can see it from downstairs.

The drawer divider insert is removable as per client’s request. I normally make them fixed.

A 1/4” glass top (pattern cut) with a beveled edge was added afterward. I’m not a big fan of glass tops, but client wanted it.

Mahogany Laminate that is…..:(
Oh well, got to pay the bills.

Sketchup helped sell the job. (It’s a great tool for showing the client what their getting, no surprises!!)

This is a study desk for a 12 and 15 year old. (12 year old is the model)
Nothing fancy, full extension accurides on all the drawers, the larger bottom drawers will hold letter or legal size files. The pencil drawers have dividers for the pencils, pens, erasers, etc, etc…
I made cork boards for the back wall.

No excuses for not doing their homework now.
