Repurpose this find with me! - 2 replies

My wife and I spotted this little guy in the garbage yesterday and took it home. The idea is to put a top on it and use it for my son’s craft table. What would you use for such a tabletop? Something durable and smooth is ideal…. Also what would you do to refinish it? Thanks!
