      <title>Gearing Up #2: Bookshelf, coathook, and a bit of slop on the EZ.</title>

        <![CDATA[<p>So far my schedule has really only allowed me to get started on a bookshelf and a coathook for my front hall.<br />The bookshelf hit a snag when I realized the plywood I cut for a few pieces was slightly warped. Took the wind out of my sail. So I plopped the boards on the floor and applied weight&#8230;.I don&#8217;t think it straightened them much. But I think I can attempt assembly soon.</p>


	<p>The coat rack was a quick project to get me back into the flow. I made a big one and a small one for my son to hang his coat on. I got to play with some finishing techniques and this taught me how much I have to learn about finishes. :-)<br />Hope to post pictures soon!</p>


	<p>I have been using the EZ system in a limited capacity in my small basement work area. I must I say I really love the product. I hope to put up a decent review to encourage others to give it a thought. With my fantastic milwaukee circ saw the thing is quiet and safer than me using my table saw. Doesn&#8217;t even wake the wife at 2am!</p>


	<p>There is one slight issue I have noticed&#8230;that is slop with the saw on the rail. The fit between the plastic base and the aluminum track isn&#8217;t as tight as I would like it. I can usually apply even pressure against the rail while cutting and the cut comes out smooth enough&#8230;.but wondering if anybody who uses the EZ system has solved this problem?</p>]]>

      <title>Gearing Up #1: Return to Toolup.com and Menards Cutting Policy</title>

        <![CDATA[<p>I finally got my 7 1/4 freud blade shipped out for replacement to Toolup.com today. They provided me with a return shipped label prepaid which makes me happy. Unhappy part is that it will probably be another week at least before I see a replacement&#8230;couldn&#8217;t bring myself to pay double the price to get one at Home Depot.</p>


	<p>I just wonder why the guy placing the blade in the box couldn&#8217;t look at all 40 teeth before plopping it in there. I didn&#8217;t find the tooth in the shipping box, so I assume it was a manufacturer&#8217;s defect.</p>


	<p>In other news I have been scoping out where to buy my first 3/4&#8221; birch plywood. I have seen some halfway decent stuff at my local Menard&#8217;s. Since I don&#8217;t have a car to fit a full 4&#215;8 sheet, I called the store to ask if I brought my own circular saw if I could rip the sheet down to fit into my car. At first the guy gave me real attitude for some reason&#8230;then softened up and said he&#8217;d need to ask a store manager. Manager said I can cut it outside (in the parking lot) but there is no electric out there. So basically they don&#8217;t want to be accomodating at all. Looks like they lost hundreds of dollars (if not thousands over the next couple years) in plywood sales on me.</p>


	<p>I went to my local Lowe&#8217;s and looked at their 3/4 birch. I see small voids on the ends, but they said they&#8217;ll cut it for free for me. All of the sheets on the rack had bad edges, but I&#8217;ll just count on cutting those off. So it looks like it&#8217;s the only option at this point. My local Home Depot has horrible plywood that not even I would think about using.</p>


	<p>Dang, these 3/4 boards sure are heavy.</p>]]>

      <title>Experience with EurekaZone and Toolup.Com</title>

        <![CDATA[<p>So I&#8217;m getting geared up here and placed an order last week for a new Millwaukee circular saw with Diablo 40 tooth blade. I also ordered the EurekaZone rail system SGS-100.</p>


	<p>Had an issue with both orders. :-(</p>


	<p>The Diablo blade arrived missing a tooth. I have emailed Toolup.com on Saturday night (last night) and am awaiting a respose.</p>


	<p>The EurekaZone rail system arrived with a broken anti-splinter guard.<br />I emailed them on Thursday regarding the issue and have yet to hear from them. This is sort of odd as I got very fast responses from Dino (the owner) when I inquired about details while deciding if I wanted to purchase the system. Leaves me wondering if support dwindles after a purchase is made?</p>


	<p>Pretty discouraging&#8230;.lost the whole weekend when I could have been cutting something!!</p>

	<p>It is spectacular. It is the quietest power tool I have ever used. Power seems great and the saw brake works like a charm. I am VERY pleased with this choice so far.</p>]]>
