Before I give my recommendation, let me first say that I have a Delta Unisaw with a 3 hp motor, 52” table, and Biesemeyer fence, along with all the “goodies” that make it “perfect”, i.e., tenoning jig, Freud Dial dado blade, crosscut table, Incra 3000, etc., etc. (BTW the “goodies” in a good setup cost more than the saw). In addition, I have three Shopsmiths, and while I would not recommend them for use as table saws, others do, and love them. I also have a 30+ year old Craftsman radial arm saw, that I’ve used for ripping (not recommended), as well as for crosscutting and dadoing (for which I still use it).

All that being said (solely to qualify my background), my recommendation is that you take a very serious look at the Festool TS-55. After getting a Festool Domino (very highly recommended), I got hooked on their system. Using an MFT/3 table and CT22 dust collector (which integrates with their tools), it provides exceptionally clean cuts (even on difficult materials, like melamine, where the cuts with the standard blade are clean and chip free).

If you look around the Internet for Festool products and users, you’ll see what I mean, and if you look on craigslist, you’ll almost never see any Festool products, as those who get them, keep them.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

I want to welcome you to LJ. I’m a “newbie” also. So, I am “paying-it-forward”. I’m sure there is plenty of information to be found on here. I’m still figurin it out myself.
