As an unskilled a mature I have been very successful with a combination of the Worksharp 3000 Andy then the Veritas Jig with water stones.

Gerry, I would love to have one of those because I feel like it would take the margin of error down to almost nothing… but I can’t really see myself spending $200 for a tool to sharpen my tools. Maybe sometime in the future when I have many more tools that need sharpening more often than I do now. Thanks for the reply.
