Finished L - Shaped Table

I posted pictures of this table during the building process (first picture is one of them) several months ago, so I thought I would update it and show the completed project. It works really well with the way that we have the furniture arranged in our cottage living room. My plan now is to build a lamp to fit. Haven’t found the inspiration for that so far.

Cutting Boards

These are three bds that I made sometime ago but hadn’t downloaded the pictures. I have quite a few designs that I have put together and hope to get them posted someday soon. The decorative bds are cherry, maple and walnut endgrain. The edge grained bd is maple and a couple pieces of cherry for accent. All three are approx 12”X15”X1.25”. I finish the boards with several coats of mineral oil.

New Tables For the Mrs.

I received a request for a pair of Mission Style end tables from the lovely but formidable Ms. Linda. The first was straightforward and I had plans and drawings from, I believe, WOOD Magazine. The second was a bit more complicated. It had to act as end table for the chair but also wrap around the couch. No plans, no drawings. So I borrowed what I could from the first table and then improvised. It’s almost completed. Just need to add the shelf and then the finish. Picture one is the straightforward one.

Not what it seems

This “wall unit” was a solution to a problem. When we remodeled our cottage, the backside of the fireplace jutted into the bedroom area. Just ugly brick. So I made this to cover it up and give us something nice to look at. The only functional parts are the shelves. Whenever we are giving a tour of the house, people always go up and pull on the drawers or try to open one of the doors. We get the same puzzled look from everyone. I’m doing the same style with two armoires and a large chest of drawers in a walk-in closet. That is a work in progress and I’ll put up pictures when far enough along.

Countertop

I am just about ready to complete this countertop that I put together for our cottage kitchen island. I am debating about what finish to use. It will probably get some tough use so I am open to ideas as to what might work the best. We want to keep it light so as to hi-lite the golden hue of the oak and the various wood grain patterns. I sliced 1/2 inch edge grain of various lengths and then like a jigsaw put them down over mdf with Titebond II. The edges are dadoed and fit over the edges of the mdf and mitered. Sanded to 220.
