« Part 1: Getting started Part 2 of Sojourn series no next part

I am currently designing a few cigar box guitars for friends and myself. I want to build my father one, he is not a musician but I know he loves it when I do art. I want to get a hold of a wooden bible, my father is a preacher and I figured I would make a series of cbg’s designed after him. I want to call them The Revelators, like the song “John the Revelator” because my father’s name is John.
For my wife I want to make one that is a dulcimer style or “strumstick” style since she hasn’t played any stringed instruments it might help her get started. I want to get a series with very ornaite designs or accents. She loves elves and fairies so I figured something designed like that.
I am gathering my thoughts on paper first and will then start to apply them to wood. I hope that I can eventually make these things happen. The one for my father will be the easiest does anybody know where I could find a wooden box that looks like a bible?
Well hopefully something will come of these thoughts…..hopefully.

This was the first one. It is primitive but it sounds great. It is at Folsom Lake right now, serenading the fish and other campers.
