Part 1: Startup

Chest of drawers is done…still have a pile of “leftovers”... A small stack of Cherry….a 1×4 x7’ plank of walnut, and a few other odds & ends…. Decided to resaw the Cherry a bit, so I planed them to about the same thickness and width. Made a jig for the bandsawTo see IF it would help with these tall boards. Meh….Brought the Walnut plank to the shop….made a few crosscuts… It had a section that needed to be…gone&...

Part 2: Out of the clamps..

Ok, where was I? Got the two sides out of the clamps.. Side One.. Was trying to see IF I like the “flat” panel look….not..Side two. I think a Raised Panel look will just have to do… Which leaves the ends to make. Collection of planes were the ones being used. They need smaller stiles….made it a bit rough to use the 45….still had a 1×4 slab…I could make the grooves first, rip the part off the slab, and keep making parts. Too...

Part 3: Stanley 45 time...

Ok, I have the Stanley 45 all set up….need to mill a few tongues on the end pieces.. Called a “Match” cutter, cuts a 3/16” wide tongue, for a tongue and groove joint… Fence sits below the cutter. As this were designed to mill up to 4/4 stock, a 3/4” thick piece will have a bit of overhang. I raised the depth stop up, out of the way, as the cutter has it’s own. I used this set up, to hold the end pieces still, long enough to mill the edg...

Part 4: Lid work, and a sealcoat

Box is out of the clamps. Decided to build the lid as a frame & raised panel.. Did a bit of trading for a stick of Black Walnut. Crosscut to get a few parts. These for the raised panel.. needed this for a pair of long rails, and.. These two for the short rails.. Long rails were ripped into a matching pair….needed saw marks removed.. Next day. got the blank out of the clamps, and planed them flat.. Made a jig to hold the panel still.. While a pair of #4 plan...
