« Part 5: Mortises chopped, a bit of glue spread around Part 6 of Pine Project, 4x4s series no next part

Well, other than a Boss ordered shopping trip, spent a bit of time in the Dungeon Shop today..getting the rest of the base assembled.

Diagonal clamp to pull this thing close to square. Had to make the corner blocks as well. Was just going to add a corner block to help glue up one short apron…..and kept going.

Actually, I got to this point, and had to take the Boss shopping, then come back and fix supper….Finally got to work a bit more

A smooth plane? Ah, not exactly. I was trying to flatten the top a bit, since it had cupped a bit..

Figured a #6c could do that job. Attached the now flatter top to the base..

Drew some circles on the corners of the top. Old green B&D Sabresaw to cut tthe circles off. Beltsander to smooth out

Made use of the end vise on the bench, needed a way to hold the table still long enough to run the router around the edges..

Used a small bit to cove the edges abit..

Sooo, after a lot of sanding, and dusting off, time for the Witch’s Brew. Opened the can….running a bit low…added a pint of BLO to the mix. Stirred it up, to bring the stuff in the bottom up, cheap brush..and
Drum Roll, if you please..

Almost a Pumpkin Pine effect? This will also get a coat of clear Poly Gloss later, maybe one more look, before this is posted as a Project?

Not too bad? Remember, all the wood for this project came from just those four 4×4x30” scrap timbers. hated to throw them away….might as well use them.

Good work. It’s unfortunate that you’re making the rest of us look bad. We need you to cut back production a hair.
